Like real horsetail hair canvases, this material has strong threads (horsehair, or in this case melex) running cross-wise, so that the fabric is resistant to folding or bending along the grain, but easily bends on the cross-grain. This makes a fabric with unusual properties -- behaving quite differently depending on which direction the grain is laid into projects. If you don't want to use real horsetail hair canvas in your bespoke suit chest fronts, this is the best alternative. Made by the same Italian manufacturer that makes our white Ballato horsetail hair canvas, this cotton and melex mix (melex is a man-made fiber) is a great choice.
